A Kingdom Hope Through Suffering

2 Corinthians 4:16-18

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.

For This light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,

as we look not to the thing that are seen but to the things that are unseen.

For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

Hope Through Suffering

When thinking about suffering, our perspective is key. Our life circumstances can often change from week to week or even day to day. But, it’s important that our perspective doesn’t. One of my friends once quit his job and included at the end of his resignation email, “To my coworkers, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. It may be a longer way off for you, but my God it’s beautiful up close.” Obviously, this was written somewhat jokingly but, there is some truth in it. We will all suffer but, our focus shouldn’t be on the suffering but at the light at the end of the tunnel. There is an eternal weight of glory weight of glory waiting for us.

So what do in the suffering? We hold on to our faith and the hope of eternity. It’s not easy so we surround ourselves with Christian community. We can encourage one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. So this we are focusing on the promise of the Kingdom that is to come. As we sing these songs we are reminded of the hope we have through the promises of God.
