Advent: Christ Candle

Over the past four weeks we have been celebrating advent.  In this season we have anticipated the arrival of Jesus.

Today we finally get to celebrate the fact that Jesus has come to earth.  We celebrate Jesus’ birth and what that means for us today.

So, this week we light the Christ Candle to represent the light that has come to everyone through Jesus Christ!

Through him we have the right to become children of God through the grace and truth he gives us.

As we light each of these candles, we are reminded that we have that light through our faith and the indwelling of the holy spirit.

And in response, we praise God for who he is and what he’s done.

John 1:9-14

The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.

He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him.

He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.

But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,

who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory,

glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
